At Gulfcoast Eye Care, we’ve always known that our team is made up of extraordinary individuals dedicated to serving our community. Today, we are honored to share a story that goes beyond the walls of our practice, highlighting the bravery and compassion of our very own Chief Operating Officer, Alex Delgado, who recently went above and beyond for a Gulfcoast Eye care neighbor.
On what seemed like a typical day, Alex was at our St. Petersburg office, when he noticed smoke and flames coming from a nearby house. Without a moment’s hesitation, he rushed to the scene, where he found a woman trapped inside, unable to escape the rapidly spreading fire.
Risking his own safety, he entered the burning home, navigating through thick smoke and intense heat to reach her. With incredible courage and determination, Alex carried the 86-year-old blind woman and her dog out of the house to safety for medical treatment.
Alex’s actions that day were nothing short of heroic. It’s one thing to read about Good Samaritans in the news, but it’s truly humbling when that hero is someone you work alongside every day. His bravery is a testament to the character, strength, and compassion that define him—not just as our COO, but as a member of our community.
We are immensely proud to call Alex one of our own. His selflessness and courage in the face of danger embody the values we strive to uphold at Gulfcoast Eye Care: caring for those around us, stepping up when it matters most, and making a positive impact, no matter the circumstances.
This story is a powerful reminder of the difference one person can make and how the values we carry in our hearts extend far beyond our professional roles. We hope this inspires everyone to look out for each other and to act with compassion and courage!
