Astigmatism
The cornea makes up the front, clear windshield of the eye. Normally, its contour is round much like a basketball. If you have astigmatism, then your cornea may be shaped more like a football or a spoon. This is often a result of the cornea curving more in one direction or another.
Astigmatism distorts the vision, making it blurry both at near and at a distance. Some compare this to the appearance of looking into a fun-house mirror where you or objects that you see appear to be distorted so that they may look too wide or too thin, or too short or too tall. It is possible for you to have astigmatism in combination with nearsightedness (myopia) or farsightedness (hyperopia).
